Ordered the kindle version (for PC) of this for school. Ctrl F is a verrrry helpful tool and makes the work go by a lot faster. Would much rather all my books be kindle books. Has a lot of neat information you wouldnt think would be in an ergonomics book.

This book is an easy read, with great information presented. The author seems very knowledgeable about the subject and lays it out in such a way that there seems to be a nice natural progression.

Marko and Prince Robot IV join forces (sort of) to rescue their children.This volume isn't quite as good as the previous volumes, but it's still very good. This is the kind of series you need to start from the beginning.

I love this series. I discovered it wen reading a list of the top ten books in the US that are consistently petitioned to be removed from library shelves for whatever reason (usually this reason is religious).Definitely if you are reading these reviews because you are considering buying this graphic novel, you SHOULD BUY THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL. Start from the beginning. The art is phenomenal, top of the line - just plain breathtaking at times. The story is solid, relate-able on too many levels, and very digestible for even those who aren't generally into comics/graphic novels. Some of the brutality and sex portrayed in the story are shocking to see laid out there, even if you are expecting it, so try to prepare yourself with an open mind. This story is graphic, and doesn't shy away from the icky stuff.This particular installment in the series was hard to rate for me. A quick read, as usual - I finished it in a matter of an hour or less. It was good because I was so ravenous for the next part of the story, the continuation of all the great characters, but it is bad because there is hardly a positive moment anywhere to be found in this set of chapters. While the story is consistently well-written, the stoyLINE seems to be just getting worse and worse for the characters. And if you're overly attached to any one in particular, it is best to adopt a Walking Dead/Game of Thrones attitude toward that character, in order to fend off future sorrow and heartbreak. Very few people have plot armor, and no one seems to have any sort of good luck whatsoever.Prepare yourself.I'll be here waiting for volume 6 if you need me.

What attracted me first was the stark but expressive artwork. The beleaguered couple, having and raising their child on the run - handled at all well, there's plenty to pull a reader into their plight and plenty of room for the story to grow. This has been handled very well.Now, in this fifth collection of monthly comics, that early promise is still being kept.If anything, the tension just keeps getting stronger, disaster even closer. The authors have a knack for pacing. And, in an ongoing epic like this, that means managing the cast of characters. We've lost a few along the way, but gained a few also. Only a few, not so many that you'll lose track of who's who, and with enough mixed loyalties to keep the reader guessing.Two more things keep a long-lived series alive. First, the open invitation to new readers. Jumping into the middle of a story can be tough for a first-timer, but this makes it easy to dive in without tedious (or at least obvious) recaps every few issues. Second, there's sequel slump - specifically, the lack of sequel slump. It's easy and distressingly common for a series to fall into a rut, or to lose the vitality of script and art that pulled me in initially. As yet, that remains in the future for the Saga saga - and I hope it's the very far future.-- wiredweird

Saga continues to thrill as a graphic space opera with incredibly fleshed-out characters. I wish some of the print only science fiction I've read was as capable of showing me the impact of living in a technology-driven, war-torn universe on sentient beings. Dark humor abounds along with some tender familial moments, but this is balanced with intense story-driven action. Like most great science fiction writers, Vaughan jam packs his stories with multiple themes and futuristic existential crises in a way that allows enough room for readers to imagine what all of this implies about life in the future and how our current actions might be leading us to such a fate. Best of all, my wife, 18-year-old son, and I all have another common point of interest to enjoy and discuss together. My only regret is now that I'm caught up in the series I have to wait for future installments, but the anticipation of this volume made for sweet suffering.

Once again Hazel's narrations are beautifully written and inspiring. We get more glimpses into more of Alana and Marko's past which helps us dive even deeper into our beloved characters. Up until this point I feel like Alana's been a bit more of the bad ass, but in this one Marko sure steps up to the plate! I loved seeing him with a beard!! It seems as if they're all getting a little more content with life and the dealings of these real life issues they've been facing. I love the more down to earth feeling they get to settle into instead of always running on a high of getting away. Again, this series has stolen my heart and continuously gets better.

Saga is one of the best stories I've read in comics. I dove into it buying the first couple of volumes at a comic convention and it immediately grabbed my attention. The only thing is I wish I had started reading it when it was first released, or after the series was completed because having to wait for each volume in TPB is killing me!The book is progressive, positive, and hard-hitting. It hits on many topics that affect us as a society today but because it's written in as Science Fiction it can reflect on them without the appearance of pandering. I would recommend this to just about anyone, and should definitely be on the radar for younger generations.

4.5 stars. I really like Brian Vaughn's work (Y, Ex, Runaways, Pride) and his writing on this series has been wonderful. However, the star of this book is Fiona Staples. Her covers and interior art are, to borrow a Bostonian phrase, wicked-good.The Star Wars-esque Montague-Capulet w/baby story continues here as Vaughn weaves a bunch of characters through multiple storylines. Major characters die, the Will returns and the volume ends with some immediate issues resolved but a number of storylines opening up further (another reviewer mentioned how the sudden killing off of characters if very George R.R. Martin, and I agree...I also think Vaughan likes to continue to expand the universe like Mr. Martin as well).

I have the first edition of this book which I have thoroughly worn out; I referred to it frequently, sometimes rereading it cover to cover. I found the first edition to be the most helpful book on single, on-camera flash photography to date. Nothing else comes close; I know this, having spent a considerable amount of money on single, on-camera flash photography books. Although I'm sure there are some books out there that are as good as Niel's, for my money, Niel's instruction is as good as it gets. The second edition is a thorough reworking of the first. With a few exceptions, all of the images are new. Niel starts this edition with examples that extol the benefits of the effective use of single flash photography before heading back to the basics of exposure, flash sync, etc. He did a very thorough job in reworking the first edition, as good as that was. If you are looking to really take control of your single, on camera flash--especially for portraits--this book is the ticket. I look forward to enrolling in at least one of Niel's workshops.

This book is more nuts and bolts (more technical) than Scott Kelby's "The Flash Book" and it, as you might expect, has some different ideas than Scott's book. The title of the book is "On Camera Flash" so the author endeavors to help us understand how to use a flash mounted on a camera to get good results. It succeeds. There are many circumstances in which using off-camera flash is simply not practical. Off-camera flash produces great results, but its takes a lot of fiddling to get everything just right.If you're shooting a portrait and have time to spare, off-camera flash with reflectors, light stands, soft boxes, umbrellas, flash modifiers, etc., is a good way to go. (I note that the same author has a book on off-camera flash. I haven't read that one.) If you're trying to get shots at an event and you need to travel light and move fast on-camera flash may be the only good option. If you have an assistant you can do off-camera quickly, but assistants are not always available.The other thing that stand out as a difference between "The Flash Book" and this book is the use of TTL (through the lens) flash control. This book is more kind to TTL flash control and describes how to use the feature to good effect. It seems to me that TTL is useful if you need to shoot quickly and move on. Experience will tell.I recommend this book to photographers who find themselves in situations where on-camera flash is the best they can do and want to learn techniques for optimizing the results from on-camera flash.

To get the most out of this book, a basic understanding of exposure is very helpful. A few online tutorials or videos on exposure should be enough for anyone who does not quite understand the exposure.Overall the book is an easy read and well-organized. It can also serve as a reference source. If you own a DSLR with a tiltable flash, a few hours with this book and about $3.00 in material will improve your on-camera flash photography.

The author, Niel van Niekerk, was really obsessed about making sure that the subject didn't look like a flash was used on her. He showed a lot of examples of how a picture would look like if only existing light was used and how the lighting was greatly enhanced by using flash.I don't know but he made a believer out of me.He never suggested this but I went to a hobby store and bought a life-sized styrofoam head so I can practice bouncing the flash while creating a flattering kind of lighting. Sorry if this sounds weird but it is so hard for me to convince my wife to practice using the flash on her.I think this book would be very helpful for people new to using flash and also to people who already has some flash experience. He uses a lot of examples from his wedding shoots but his techniques can be applied to most situations. He talks about using flash in different types of lighting situations. He does so in a manner that is not very technical. In fact, he only used 1 chart in his entire book.If you want to read a bit about what he has to say, google "Planet Neil flash photography techniques". Like me, you will be amazed at what he has to say and you will probably buy the book too.I have already finished it and I will probably read it a couple more times.One last word about the author. I had a question about a gel he mentioned in his book so I sent him an e-mail. He responded promptly and was very nice.

Among the people that have written about Hunter (and among these, the books by Jann Wenner and Jay Cowan are the best of the pile) this book stands out above all by its honesty. Juan Thompson never seems to embellish or exaggerate simply for the sake of writing something startling or outrageous. Yet it's all there - the Hunter that fans came to know over the decades: The craziness, the rage, the destruction, the turmoil and the daily diet of hard drugs and alcohol that characterized Hunter Thompson. And this story is told from the point of view of a child, who unlike the adults in the mix could not simply up and leave when Hunter's often near-insane behavior stopped being fun and started to be frightening and traumatic. That said, this is a poignant, slightly sad and sometimes a bit painful story. And at almost 300 pages, the book tells the story about as completely as you'd want it to. There plenty of material to describe what life was like growing up the son of the most outrageous figure in twentieth century literature, the self-appointed "King of Gonzo journalism".

Just what you would imagine about Thompson. You like his writings? you probably would not like him...he had a dysfunctional personality and didn't identify with others. I read everything he has in print and keep it in my library but I don't think I would allow him in my home.

Juan Thompson possesses an integrity, openness, and thoughtfulness that enabled him to write an authentic memoir that reveals crucial insights about his remarkable father. The book is rich with personal letters the two exchanged, Juan’s keen memories, and family photos. He is revealing even when the truth doesn’t portray him or others in the best light. This is a touching memoir of a father and son who grew apart for a time but became close in the last decade of Hunter’s life. It was Juan who was summoned on the final weekend and who was there when Hunter died. I didn't know much about Hunter S. Thompson before this book, except that he was a drug crazed gun toting nut. His son does a great job of describing his father and what it was like to grow up with a narcissistic alcoholic. I gave this book 5 stars because I literally couldn't put it down. I'm amazed that his son could be so forgiving, I doubt that I could. I recommend this book to anyone who has a difficult relationship with their father, because your father can't be worse than this guy.

When you run out of HST’s own books to read, you read what others have written about him. Who better to write a book about the legend than his own son? I should rephrase that: Who better to write a book about himself than Hunter S. Thompson’s son?It was sentimental, yet didn’t hold back from the gritty details of being a child growing up with Hunter S. Thompson as a “caregiver.”Juan Thompson’s memoir shows the sides of HST many of his most adoring fans have trouble gripping—notably his days as a crippled old man. Other HST biographies notice this as well, but being told by the man who becomes Hunter’s caregiver gives a whole new insight.In my 20s I devoured anything Hunter S. Thompson. Ten years later: it’s nice to get a little fix.

This would make a great Fathers Day gift. You will really enjoy this book even if you are not a fan of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. What a great son-father story. I only wish there was more about the month Juan spent on a boat with Jimmy Buffett and the time Dr. Thompson spent living in Buffett's apartment in Key West. Nonetheless this is a book to treasure.

Of course I picked up this book because I have been a lifelong fan of HST. I was a child reading his pieces in Rolling Stones, learning that writing had a style and you could make it your style if you chose to. I never had visions that growing up as HST's child would be an easy venture, but I did believe it would be a massive perk in growing up. Juan Thompson has made an eloquent hats off to a dad who was not perfect yet a father who loved in a manner that only he could muster. He manages to tell some stories which are not particularly favorable of such a complicated man while still respecting what his dad did right. It does often does take a child of your own to look past the surface of our parents and pull out a positive spin on our experiences. Juan does that and his love for his father is never doubted. I definitely recommend this book even if you are unaware of HST's legacy. It's a great story of unconditional love and accepting a parent who, while full of flaws, was also full of adventure. I also enjoyed the personal photos not seen all over the internet.
