It's a pretty well-written book and an enjoyable read. It wasn't a "can't put it down" kind of book, but I did enjoy reading it. The main character's self-pity and lack of action was annoying at times. I think the author tries a bit too hard to catch the reader's interest--such as the "terrible secret" of the husband. Also, it does drag on a bit here and there. When finished, I did want to read more by the author. Surprisingly disappointed--No Longer Safe--predictable, ludicrous, and quite boring. I won't try any more.
Good grief! How anyone can take a whodunit of truly simple proportions and then go on, and on, and on about everything under the sun EXCEPT the story is beyond me. A full half of this novel should be shaved off and THEN we'd have a great story! The only reason I swept past dozens upon dozens of pages was to actually see who did do it!My advice? Hire an editor.
This is the 2nd book I've read by AJ Waines and I can't wait to dive into the next. She weaves a story that keeps you hoping for the best yet guessing right up to the end!

And Harper is losing his mind playing detective and enlisting the help of his wives friends. Then a neighborhood girl goes missing. Her mother in the last days of her life.Lives twisted together by caring neighbors and fairy tales. In the end who you should have been able to trust was the one that betrayed everyone. Love prevails. Lives end and the rest move on. A very griping twisted psychological thriller.
Lots of surprises, some a little hard to believe, but still an enjoyable book that held my interest. It's one of the books I read while on the exercise bike or treadmill, and I ended up spending a lot more time just because I didn't want to stop reading.
AJ Waines again has you pulled in right from the start. This book was full of suspense and surprises. I was a little disappointed in the ending, but overall it was a great thriller. It was right up my ally as far as the type of story line I enjoy reading. I like the writing style and the suspense in these books. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a great who done it!
I've always enjoyed English Mysteries. This well written book is no exception! A touch on daily English village life, a chance to view the relationships that exist in the countryside away from the bustling city atmosphere. Here life is quiet paced & people interact with one another in caring & helpful ways. At times tho' evil snakes in on its disgusting belly seeking whom itmay destroy as it satisfies it's lust. This time it runs into Good, in the form of a man that refuses to give up the fight! It grabbed & held my interest. Could hardly put it down until the very end!!! I highly recommend it! Anxious to read more by this author!
I said I would try another book by this author and I did. I was not disappointed at all. Read it in a few hours and loved it. So many of these independent, unknown writers are so good. Next time you're looking for something to read give one of them a chance, you won't regret it.
I like the book right from the start and I couldn't put it down. I like shorter chapters it keeps you more intrigued because you know the next chapters gonna be short so you keep going. I like the way you didn't know who did it until the end but somethings were predictable , but enjoyable. I would really like to know what happens with the couple is there a part two?
