Cass R. Sunstein is the Robert Walmsley University Professor at Harvard, where he is founder and director of the Program on Behavioral Economics and Public Policy. He is the most cited law professor in the United States and probably the world. He has served as Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs and as a member of the President’s Review Group on Intelligence and Communications Technologies. Winner of the 2018 Holberg Prize, Sunstein is a columnist for Bloomberg View and a frequent adviser to governments all over the world. This isn't just a book for 2017, it is a book for as long as we take seriously Ben Franklin's charge, "A republic, if you can keep it."

A talented legal scholar who can write understandably about impeachment is worth reading. The use of illustrations in the short and effective book is very helpful. Well worth the few hours it will take. Ted

Professor Sunstein's "Impeachment: A Citizen's Guide" is excellent, timeless, and timely. By tracing the language of the Constitution, the debates of the framers, and the public understanding of the Constitution at the time it was ratified, Sunstein gives us a clear outline of the general standard to be used by the House (when impeaching) and the Senate (when trying impeachments). He also gives us a clear view of how to analyze various types of presidential wrongdoing that we might see, classifying each type as clearly impeachable, debatable (i.e., for Congress to decide), and clearly not impeachable. This view is a helpful reference and, while perhaps not completely comprehensive, seems to me to cover the bases given what our presidents have been impeached (or threatened to be impeached) for to date. The reason I say this book is not only excellent but timeless is that Sunstein's analysis and examples are not really tied to current events or particular people. However, I also say it is timely because it is immediately obvious how his analysis and examples apply to current events. I would encourage any U.S. citizen to read this book, regardless of political persuasion.

He encourages the neutral mood from the start, which is the best way to do it.It's sometimes difficult to make your way through the flower beds of words to get one point across accurately, moreso from the 1700s and 1800s documents. Cass does a good job of summing up each paragraph, not always blatantly. Still, sometimes hard to comprehend if you're not used to these things. Maybe I just need to regulate my reading pace.

Gives a clear historical background and basic understanding of the purpose and intent of impeachment. Concrete examples are recounted providing a history of cases of past impeachment. This book is a non partisan as it gets and I highly recommend it to all citizens of the US. A must read for any student of history and current politics.

Educational, informative and well researched. Timely and a joy to read. A must for anyone interested in our foundation as a nation.

If you want to obtain a better understanding of Impeachment, the 25th Amendment, and our Constitutional heritage, this is the book. Sustain provides real life or close to real life hypotheticals that inform his analysis and the reader's understanding while avoiding being political or partisan. Also, its fun to watch a great mind at work, and Sustain is a superb writer who makes all of this fun and interesting.

Very informative, well written, and easy to understand. Though an American history buff of many years, I am not a lawyer, so I was pleased to fined a book that clarifies for me what is required to impeach a government official written in language I can understand.

Based just on the preface, I am eager to follow Rush's life story.UPDATE: having read several chapters, I can't wait each day to return to this compelling narrative. With rich, newly uncovered source material, Fried paints a vivid picture of the era and Benjamin Rush's role. Having lived in Philadelphia, I knew a bit of his early work in mental health and addiction but had no idea of his pivotal place among the framers of the Constitution and the lives of Adams, Jefferson and Washington. I believe that the author has broken fresh ground on Rush and made a major rediscovery of a relatively unknown founder. Should be of interest to all, including those who don't read widely in American history. You will want to know the inspired and inspiring Benjamin Rush.

About two weeks ago I saw the author Stephen Fried doing a TV interview. He talked about a Founding Father I had never heard of and he was a Doctor a well-educated and trained physician. He signed the Declaration of Independence was friends with Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. He was one of the youngest men to sign the Declaration. During the Revolutionary War he advocated for certain reforms that would lower the deaths among the soldiers and provide them with better care. He also was concerned about the care of the mentally ill and advocated for them and got a wing on the Pennsylvania hospital added so they could be brought out of the cold basement.It's a fascinating story and has never been fully told before because his family did not want his falling our with George Washington to come out and ruin their careers in the government. Now all these years later Stephen Fried has told it and all those interested in our early history should read it. One thing I loved when they were forming the new government and had a Department of War he thought we should also have a Department of Peace. There is so much more about our early history, the history of education and medicine in our country.I also want to say when I saw the interview and found it was not yet available in my library I ordered my own copy. I should also mention my special interest is because I'm a retired RN and I felt I should know about this dedicated physician.

This is an extensive and insightful biography of Dr. Benjamin Rush (1746-1813), a remarkably influential physician, medical educator, political activist, and productive author. Though he was a signer of the Declaration, he is generally not known today nearly as well as his colleagues Jefferson, Adams, and Washington. And this is unfortunate since he was one of the most influential medical and political leaders of the revolutionary and early national period.First he was a remarkable physician trained in Philadelphia (where he spent most of his life) and Edinburgh. He became not only a famed practitioner, but also hospital administrator for the Revolutionary army and in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Hospital and University of Pennsylvania. He led the fight against several severe Yellow Fever epidemics and published his findings. He was also a pioneer in treating the mentally ill and wrote leading books on the topic. And he made important improvements in medical education and the training of apprentice physicians.Rush also became involved in politics, serving as a delegate to the Continental Congress (where he signed the Declaration) and came to know Washington and John Adams well enough later to be appointed by both to respected federal offices. Ironically, a careless letter criticizing Washington's leadership during the war did not isolate him from the first president, though bitterness apparently persisted on Washington for the remainder of his life. As if these two dimensions were not enough, Rush also published extensively on medical and other subjects thereby sharing his extensive knowledge in several fields.Along the way, he was involved with the American Philosophical Society, several medical associations, participated in the Pennsylvania ratification convention, founded Dickinson College, became a leading advocate for free public education, led many abolition activities in Philadelphia while aiding the African-American community, helped prepare the Lewis and Clark expedition, and was instrumental in reestablishing warm and friendly contacts between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson after a long period of mutual hostility. So his impact on his times was dramatic and invaluable.This is the book that Rush deserves. The author clearly undertook this project as a labor of love, and he was simply indefatigable in devoting several years to extremely thorough research. Both the 48 pages of notes and the 13 page bibliography bring together virtually anything published by or about Rush; as such they are major contributions as well. My only criticism is that this book of nearly 600 pages could certainly have been shortened and better focused by more extensive editing. Far too many pages are devoted to Yellow Fever epidemics, for example. But I would rather have too much material than not enough any day. As a bonus, the reader learns a great deal about colonial life, fighting the American revolution, the disgraceful treatment of mentally impaired patients, the practice of medicine, and and gains some remarkable insights to that prickly fellow, John Adams. A book of many virtues which is also a pleasure to read. Well done, indeed!

One of the best biographies of a Founding Father. The author has a true passion for the topic which engulfs the reader. The selection of material from such a long productive life must have been agonizing. Benjamin Rush was obviously a key player in America's existence but also one of the least recognized. Mr. Fried made this point abundantly clear in a fresh, compelling and revealing way. This author has a unique ability to disclose the details of the subject's humanity. This is refreshingly done for a founding father. Benjamin Rush was an amazing model for many of us, a product of his time but also a visionary with a true Christian soul.

A look back at everyday life during the late 1700's, and one of our Founding Fathers. These were the infant days of Medicine, and how new medical concepts as well as political concepts were discussed and developed. There is so much more to the story of the founding of our nation than what most Americans know.

I have three sets of these cards, the animals, the first words, and this set for colors and shapes. Let me start by saying in general I love these flash cards and so does my son. He’s 19 months and has been playing with them for months. The cards are thick and sturdy and come in a nice box. There are teaching suggestions on the back for how to use the cards, but the lessons are way too advanced for us at the moment. We like to lay all the cards out and say a word and have my son pick out the correct card.However, of all of the sets I have, this one is my least favorite.I don’t like some of the cards in this set and think they are challenging for a baby to understand. The card I dislike the most is the purse shaped like a heart.Also, I find that some cards are repeats throughout the sets. This set uses a fish, a duck, and a beach ball, which are all used in the other sets as well. I wish each set had unique words/pictures.

I was extremely disappointed in this entire series of books. I bought them as a Christmas present for my daughter and was shocked at the lack of meaningful sensory experiences. Some pages don't even have any anything to touch or the raise is so insignificant that it can barely be felt. I do not recommend this book if you're looking for a lot to "touch" or "feel."

I got these to help my toddler learn some common words and colors. The cards themselves are thick and durable. The colors are bright and fun. The container is also very durable and has stood up to two kids without any damage (so far). They have different textures and colors that keep my toddler interested. The words are good for him to practice saying. I can focus on the item or the colors, etc and that gives these a variety of purposes. My older child loves to play with them too, and I use them for spelling with him. He can identify the letters, sound out the word, put it together with the photo, tell me the color, etc. I'm really happy with these.

These flashcards are one of my daughter’s absolute favorite things. That says a lot for a 16 month old with tons and tons of toys. She always reaches for these and the 3 other packs she has (First Words, Animals, Farm). I got her the First Words pack when she was about 6 months old and just got addicted. She is now 16 months old and can say 24 words and I know that these cards played a big part in her learning. The touch and feel aspect grabs their interest, then you are able to keep them focused on the word and picture so they are able to make the important connections necessary to learn the word. They’re also very durable, which is important when you have a teething baby and “destructive” toddler. I recommend these to everyone I know who has young children. They’re just amazing.

I’ve been using these and the Animal set for months with my now 1.5 year old son. Because of these, he has learned the colors and shapes and thoroughly enjoys playing with them while attempting to say what they are. I love that there’s activities on the back of each card so they can be continued to be used for years (how to say in different languages, questions that asked various things depending on the object).

My 14 month old LOVES these flash cards. This is actually our 4th box. We have several of the others and love them too. He actually started enjoying them at 12 months. They are really well made and fun and bright. I cannot recommend these enough. I'll even find him sitting quietly looking through them all by himself. I plan on buying them for alot of friends and family.

My 14mo son and I enjoy these flashcards. The "touch & feel" portions have a relatively good variety of different materials/textures. The cards themselves are made of a sturdy thick cardboard. On the back of each card are ideas for additional activities/questions to go along with the card - my son is not quite at that level yet, but I am looking forward to continuing to use these flashcards for a while. I plan to buy other sets of flashcards in this series.

I was sad that I had given away three cards that I had collected for my first born. But my second child was 5 years after her so it was like starting all over again. I want to buy more versions of these cards because they are great. My son is 12 months and is really into tactility so these are perfect!

This is an excellent beginner and intermediate book on leathercrafting. I only have one disagreement with one of the sections (see below).It is a glossy 8-1/2" x 11" book with very clear color photos of everything. I believe it is also available in a lay-flat spiral bound version. The topics covered includethe following:-Types of leather-Cutting leather-Tool, glues, lacing &thread-Dyes, finishes, waxes, conditioners-Laying out designs & using patterns for carving-Carving the design and stamping designs-Setting snaps and rivets-Stitching, sewing, lacing-Going through all the techniques again on two projects:-1. A fancy dyed belt with stamped design and silver conchos2. A fancy case for business cards with stamped design and stitchingA quibble: I do have have one disagreement with the book on the the section about using neatsfoot oil for un-dyed leather projects. Most leathercrafters rarely use it on new leather for several reasons.100% pure neatsfoot oil (not the lower-quality "neatsfoot oil compound") is best used only to restore dried out leather (which happens over time) so it is softer and more flexible. For new un-dyed leather, neatsfoot oil is not the best leather conditioner or preservative. The author shows dipping a nice un-dyed holster in a bucket of neatsfoot oil. On anything but very dry, thick leather, this can cause a limp, oily-looking, darkened leathercraft project. I have seen the appearance of some beautiful new leather projects ruined this way. And any adhesive bond or non-synthetic thread stitching you have on the item may come apart or loosen over time due to the absorbed neatsfoot oil.Today there are much better leather conditioners and preservatives that will allow un-dyed leather to stay much firmer than with neatsfoot oil and protect it from moisture and drying. (Many contain beeswax, which was a traditional leather preservative.) Search on Amazon for "leather conditioner" or "leather preservative" and read the reviews. Follow the instructions carefully. Only apply it lightly and try on a test scrap first to see the effect on color and any dye you have used. Keep any leather coatings off the stitching and away from any adhesive seams to not dissolve or loosen those. There are several good leather conditioners and preservatives from companies like Lexol.To read all about leather conditioners and preservatives you can see many info pages with a Net search on-leather + "neatsfoot oil" + beeswax + preservative + soften + conditionerSo in summary, a very qood leathercraft book with the one disagreement on using neatsfoot oil on your work.

Prior to reading this book my knowledge of leathercraft was just was I did as a Boy Scout - so basically non-existent.After reading this book I feel I'd be able to complete tasks with a better understanding of the processes used to create quality looking leather projects. This book really is composed of three parts:1) Tools - it gives a paragraph or two explanation of many of the tool you may need while dabbling in this hobby/art.2) Method - This section takes you somewhat step by step through the various ways to turn a piece of leather into a functional work of art. It includes guides on staining, dying, stitching, lacing, and most importantly tooling (adding design using stamps and custom patterns)3) Execution - This section puts part 1 & 2 into practice. It gives a step by step tutorial on building a card case, and a belt. The author did a great job on this section giving a brief overview of the step without fully repeating repeating the method, although referencing the page to visit if you need additional help.Overall this book is highly recommended by me. It's approximately 200 pages, but with the great illustrations and step by step guides you can easily finish this in an evening and truly get a nice beginners level knowledge on this craft. If you were like me, wanting to see all that was involved with this craft before buying the tools, you can't go wrong picking up this book first.For reference - I purchased the kindle version and read this on my iPad Mini. In the past I've had issues with reference books with lots of illustration not being formatted well enough to make the book usable as an ebook. This book was formatted exceptionally well and I have 0 regrets about buying the eBook vs the spiral or paperback.

I've had experience tooling leather, but not in a lot of years. Recently my son took up an interest in it, so I pulled out all my old books and tools. Then I got this book (Kindle edition). After going through it, it was a great refresher for me in exactly what it says- leather tooling basics. It's also a good book for someone just beginning like my son.It covers picking the right leather for your project. It describes the tools and gives a good run down of the essential tools for leather tooling. It also describes the various finishing products like oils, stains and waxes.Then the basic techniques, how to case (moisten) the leather correctly for tooling. How to stain, dye or paint your leather. How to set rivets and use some of the hardware available for leather workers. It also explains beveling the edges, how to neatly finish edges and make your finished projects water resistant. This is all done with a lot of photographs and good explanations that cover why as well how to use the techniques. Then there are a few simple projects that use those skills.I'm very happy with this book.

Great book! I'm a total beginner looking to get into working with leather. This book walks you through necessary and popular tools, technique, and some projects. This book is filled with great photos to follow along with. I highly suggest this for any beginner leatherworker.

Everything I needed to begin leather crafting. I have purchased several book on introduction to leather crafting, but many of the other books tried to describe what this book shows. The photos in this book let me see what other books were trying to explain and now both books made sense. This is definitely the book for some one just starting in leather crafting.

If you are just starting out in leather crafting, or are thinking about doing so, and want to know where and how to begin this is probably the book for you. It is, quite intentionally, a beginners book! That said, it's easy to use, clear to understood and very well illustrated. I can certainly recommend it highly. Enjoy!
