By far my favorite conditioning book. Easy to read. Lots of pictures. Worth the buy to have as an aerialist or instructor.

You can't go wrong with a Jill franklin book!

I'm really happy with this book. As an aerial student I'm familiar with some of these exercises, but there are a few I didn't know so it was totally worth it. Live this author.

I'm an aerial instructor and performer and I love having this as a resource for both myself and my students. This is the next best thing to actually having Jill to train with in person, as it is thoroughly infused with her confident & kind teaching style all the way through. I especially appreciate how clearly Jill explains technique tips to help the reader understand the important components and concepts of each exercise.While this guide is obviously geared toward the aerial performer, it would be a great resource for anyone looking to increase their strength and mobility. Get it! You won't be disappointed.

Aerial requires a unique combination of strength, flexibility, and poise. This book covers a wide variety of exercises catered towards aerialists but useful for all fitness disciplines as well. There are well written and easy to follow instructions and lots of helpful pictures. I also appreciated that the book included pictures of a man demonstrating some of the movements so that the pictures could be relatable to different genders and body types. I'm looking forward to trying out several of the exercises from this book.

True to Jill's teaching style, this book is very methodical and incredibly clear. The instructions for every exercise and the tips are so straightforward that anyone, no matter their fitness level, can follow them and understand how their body is supposed to move and feel. I love it and highly recommend it!

"Healing ADD" by Dr. Amen has been a lifeline for me. Because of some serious medical conditions, I am unable to go on medication for ADD, and living with ADD as an adult has robbed me of almost everything. Thank goodness my counselor recommended this book, "Healing ADD," as well as Change Your Brain, Change Your Life: The Breakthrough Program for Conquering Anxiety, Depression, Obsessiveness, Anger, and Impulsiveness. Both of these books have helped me tremendously to first learn the facts of the disorder, but then also offers solid coping strategies to deal with the chaos that is ADD.Some of the negative reviewers sound very defensive about the way Dr. Amen portrays life with ADD. If you don't have the types of problems that are common to ADD adults, then consider yourself blessed and move on. For the rest of us, though, Dr. Amen lays out a multi-dimensional plan on how to cope with the negative behaviors caused by ADD. Just being aware that many of these behaviors were ROOTED in the ADD helped me tremendously, especially to stop beating myself up for being such a loser who couldn't control things in my life. Beyond that, though, the coping tools that Dr. Amen put together in this book have been a Godsend to me. I highly, highly, highly recommend this book. In fact, I have several copies that I have sent out to friends and family who it has also helped a lot.UPDATE: I have been through this book dozens of times now, and have sent it out to quite a few people who seemed to have a skewed view of ADD/ADHD and how it can be helped.MEDICATION IS NOT THE ONLY ANSWER for coping with ADD/ADHD. In some cases, it is a necessity, but it doesn't have to work alone. If you read this book, you'll see that Dr. Amen offers sold help in other areas BESIDES medication, such as nutritional support based on the type of ADD/ADHD that you or your loved one has, and best of all, some really solid coping skills that you can start using the second you pick up the book. For example, there are some things you can do that are basic to human life, but by tweaking them a little, your life can be just a little more comfortable in coping with ADD/ADHD. Specifically, the way you breathe, specifically under stress, can make a huge difference in how your body reacts to the stress you are under. The same goes for the wording you use with your own self-talk, as well as how you handle and react to other people.There is so much more than what I can address in a review, but if you or someone in your life has ADD/ADHD, please consider getting this super-informative and extremely helpful book. Fabulous book for anyone who knows anyone with ADD or ADHD! Dr Amen makes it easy to determine your "type" and tells you how to mitigate your symptoms with natural and pharmaceutical treatments. He says only 2 of the 6 types of ADD/ADHD benefit from Ritalin and the other stimulant meds. Don't give up - get this book and feel better!

Pros: examines ADD from different perspectives, highlights the science and brain function in the disorderNeutral: breaks ADD into 5 major types, which may mean that we're no longer talking about ADD.Cons: markets heavily the need for SPECT scans which are the only way to tell if you have one of the 5 types of ADD, not sure I agree with that or the 5 types.

This book has the most useful information for explaining, in detail, what ADD and ADHD is. If you need to understand what the condition is and whether or not you have it, you would be hard pressed to find a better book than this to help you do that. But there are some really troubling aspects of this book. The brain scans he is recommending. Dr. Amen's clinics are the only place that can really do them the way he talks about in the book, and folks - the procedure and the recommended treatment isn't cheap. Medical practice watch dog sites have nailed this guy, and there isn't one shred of scientific evidence that his brain scans work. Testimonials and antidotal evidence - but no scientific proof, therefore not accepted practice. He pushes his books and products on his web site, but be aware. As good as some of the information is in this book, I would say this man fits in the pop medicine crowd with Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz.And the neuro-psychiatrist he recommended for the area I live in had his license suspended for tying children by the legs and having sex with patients, videotaping patients and draining bank accounts , according to Washington Post and court documents.The point? The information about the disease. Great. The recommendations about diet, exercise, supplements. Great. The few suggestions about behavior modification. Really great. The recommendations about treatment and how to go about getting it. Caveat emptor. Buyer beware.

If you have anything other than "Classic hyperactive ADD" this book will finally give you an understanding of who you are and why you are the way you are.This book discusses some very important issues that no other ADD book I have read discusses, and I have read over 100 ADD books.For example Amen discusses the terrible problem many ADD people have with going to bed late and getting up late. This is a terrible problem because it can impair a person's ability to hold down a job. Amen offers possible solutions to this little understood dilema.I live in New Zealand where most medications for ADD are not availabe, so his discussion of herbal supplements was very helpful. I tried a herbal supplement he recommended and it has changed my life in combination with my antidepressant.I agree so much with the mother who said that if everyone read this book the world would be a much better place for all the millions of ADD sufferers out there and the people who love and care from them. But of course that will never happen, and even so called "mental health professionals" won't bother to read it and will snob it for being different and stick to their own wilfully ignorant ideas such as ADD doesn't exist etc...Dr Amen scientifically proves that ADD exists with his brain scans (as much as anyone can scientifially prove anything.) He is a godsend to our people.The book is quite academic in the early chapters on case studies because Dr Amen is discussing his scientic breakthrough but the second half of the book covers all the different catogories of how to help yourself with your ADD ie... medication, organisation, life coachs, herbal supplements, diet etc....

Rakove's introductions are what you would expect from him: clear, articulate, reminding you of some things you maybe did know and telling you quite a few you didn't. An excellent mix of primary- and secondary-source information.

I bought this book because I needed it for some homework assignments in my History Class. The book was very insightful and easy to read. I personally learned alot about the history of rights and I think that this book should be used in more history classes.

The book provides some background to the subject along with excerpts from some key documents.I expected a more comprehensive and readable summary of the basics here. Basically, disappointed.

This book is a little hard to read - but has the necessary information for schoolI appreciate the promptness with which the person I bought it from used to get it to me in a timely manner.

How could anyone improve on the Chronicles of Narnia? C.S. Lewis is first; Tolkein is second. No one else is even in the same game. This series is intended for children, but really, much of it is wasted on the young. Read the books to your kids--or any kid you can shanghai--they'll love them, but you'll love them more. I hope the movies will be worthy of the books.

The Complete Chronicles of Narnia (text only) by C. S. Lewis,P. Baynes I bought this copy because for one, I personally did not want a "movie tie-in" version, I wanted to have a hardcover edition that contained all of the books in one that I could keep for years and pass down to my children - in short, good quality, tasteful, with pictures.It was described as being "Used - Good", but it arrived in excellent condition (no noticeable tears on the book itself with only slight page wear). This version came with a book jacket which is identical to the hard cover itself, so I threw away the jacket which was well worn. Also, the book description says "text only", which is strange, because this copy has tons of the original illustrations in full-color (I'll try to post pictures soon).I feel like I hit the jackpot with this purchase and I highly encourage everyone to get this copy ASAP, because I've noticed the price of the "all-in-one" books skyrocketing lately (Barnes and Noble used to have a "leather"-bound copy for $20 three years ago which is $100 now). I sure hope these books don't go out of print, but if they do, you'll be glad you purchased this particular version, because it'll be passed down the family.

This is a beautiful paperback box set of the Narnia collection, that so many of us grew up with. The covers are nice, thick and protective of the pages inside, which are of good paper stock. I have no print fading or errors that I've noticed.The art on the outter box is beautiful on all sides, with a little read up at the top. For paperbacks, I believe this is the way to go! Highly recommended!

 This is a really lovely storybook collection based on all seven books in the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Those include: “The Magician's Nephew”, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”, “The Horse and His Boy”, “Prince Caspian”, “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”, “The Silver Chair”, and “The Last Battle”. As the coloring book is slightly longer than average size and there are seven books covered, each is only touched on lightly. The coloring book can be used as an fun addition while you are reading the stories but it does not replace them.The designs are based on the original artwork by Pauline Baynes from the books written and published in the 1950's. In some cases, the artwork has been turned into what I call “wallpaper” style designs with repeated patterns.The designs include considerably more black in shading than usual for coloring books. That is because the original artwork was just that – artwork and not coloring designs. I've found that utilizing the black as shading is what works best for me with this type of design. I've run across it before when original artwork has been presented in this format.On a personal note, the designs bring back memories from my own life. I was a big fan of these books as a child and I would read them over and over again. Once I had children, I would read books to them before bedtime each night and this was a favorite, especially of my late son. He also would read the books over and over again on his own.I am now looking forward to reading them to my grandchildren and I will now also have a book of designs that I have colored to go along with them. I will admit that coloring these designs is a bittersweet experience as I spend as much time thinking of my son as I do in coloring.This is what I found as I colored in this book and tested the paper with my coloring medium. I was able to get good color with multiple layers of the same shade. I was also able to layer multiple colors and blend well using a pencil style blending stick. Both oil and wax based pencils worked well.

Love these books, but the font size is much too small on the Narnia Box Set (with movie pictures on box, linked below). It is advertised as for Grade 3 and up, but likely only Jr. High and older would be comfortable with this small of a Font Size. We are surprised that Harper Collins would publish such a small text Font Size, knowing that many children would be their audience.***It would be very helpful if Amazon would include the Font Size in the product description for books and other literature.*** (Surprised that they don't already include this.)Chronicles of Narnia Box SetWe are sending this box set back regrettably, and instead ordering this 2000-published box set, which is a couple inches taller, hoping it has an adequate font size for young readers (link below). I was part of the ground forces during Desert Storm, which breached the defensive line of Iraq. Being on the ground, we practiced and prepared for our mission while being in a vacuum as to how the overall air campaign was going. This book was insightful as to the air missions, and the risk for our aircrews, particularly the F-15E's. The book is well written and makes one feel they are in the cockpit with the crews. Thank you for your insight and a historical perspective of what these brave aviators did for the freedom of Kuwait and the pride of our nation.

It has been over 20 years now since I went with our F15Es to Oman and then to" Al's Garage". As enlisted men and women in POL, we filled these pilots planes with fuel and watched them take off, not knowing where they were going, and hoping they all came back. Some of them did not come back. Some planes I saw riddled with holes. I saw pilots get out of their planes with smiles and fist pumps, and some with blank stares on their faces. This book answered my questions about what happened out there when you left the comforts of our tent city paradise. We all knew this was a kick ass plane and many of us collected the bomb pins from the planes upon their return. I would have liked to hear more about the first night the air campaign started. I have never heard or seen anything more spectacular in my life with all the jets starting at the same time, the taxi way looked like a parade of Strike Eagle lights, and taking off with afterburners in the midnight sky until we could not see you any more. It was a very impressive show of force that gave us all goose bumps on the flight line. Thumbs up to this book! And thumbs up to all the Air Force personnel that kept these planes up in the air in Oman and Al Kharj.

I gave this book four stars, not because it is a bad book, but because the A-10 book by the same author set the standards way up high. But let's not talk about the A-10, but of the high-tech F-15E Strike Eagle. This book tells a compelling history of how an untested aircraft (not even certified at the time to drop some kinds of bombs) was rushed into battle and performed beautifully. This book showed me that I had the erroneous idea that the powerful, high-tech, well equipped U.S. war machine has everything set and figured out is not true when things get real, and pays homage to those people who were really heroic in creating bases that did not existed before, and fundamental to make the squadrons work despite all the difficulties and the changing nature of warfare.And for those in the cockpit, tells the histories of how tactics had be changed, literally, on the fly, to fill the demands of the tactical and political backgrounds. A very good book, that in some moments, makes you feel like you are inside the cockpit reliving those events.

Very good description of Desert Storm F-15E operations from people directly involved. The author compiled pilots and WSOs testimonials that paint a very realistic picture of F-15E employment and difficulties people flying it faced.What I could do without are political undertones evident predominantly in the author's commentary. That kind of bias is common in this kind of literature, and understandable, given the circumstances. However, keeping this bias in check is what separates good writing from great writing.

I was part of the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing (Medical) and deployed to Thumrait with a few hours notice. I knew most of the folks in this book especially Tom Koritz and Jack Ingari, both Flight Surgeons. It was a great recap and very interesting account of what the air crews went thru! Great read! Thanks!

Awesome book I am an Aviation geek my self love airplanes. This book is geared toward fight pilots used good amount of lingo that I myself had to look up. Very good read recommend if you are into any aviation.

This was a well put together collection of stories from real American heroes. I feel I have a better understanding of just how challenging it is to keep a military edge.

Like going on a mission with these guys. I found myself in the first person as I strapped in teh ejection seat to fly these real sorties against the enemy. Could actually see the aa in my minds eye. This is excellent writing at it's best.
